Clear Hands BSL is a dedicated communication support service based in Devon, focused on providing high-quality British Sign Language communication support.

Our mission is to bridge communication gaps between hearing and deaf individuals, ensuring that everyone has access to the same information, opportunities, and experiences.

Our services cater to various needs, including personal, educational, and professional settings, and all of our support workers are qualified to Level 3 in BSL, and have enhanced DBS checks.

At Clear Hands BSL, we believe in the power of effective communication and strive to make it accessible for all.

Meet our team

Keane Willats

Aware of Deaf Culture at an early age, Keane started learning BSL in 2005.

He began supporting Deaf individuals when he became qualified working at Deaf First, Oak Lodge School, London.

Keane has worked as a Communication Support Worker for over a decade and a teacher of Life Skills and ICT.

Keane’s love of Sign Language comes through in his communication style.

Sarah Willats

With a love of languages and a few Deaf friends, it was inevitable that Sarah began learning BSL.

Sarah has worked as a Communication Support Worker for 12 years as well as a teacher of English and Maths to Deaf adults.

With a background in Admin, Sarah is adept at explaining paperwork for those that find English difficult to understand.

Sam Sparkes

Sam has been involved with the deaf community for over 30 years.

He was first taught BSL as a child when he was homeschooled by his grandma and has been hooked ever since!

This came in very handy when he met his wife, who also knew BSL and has Deaf family members!

He has been doing Communication Support work for over 15 years, in a variety of settings including education, hospitals and events in Devon.
